The mission of the Holy Cross School Physical Education program is to inspire students to want to learn and develop skills in as many different activities as possible, to become healthy for the rest of their lives.

 

Learning to have a positive attitude in life, and in the Physical Education environment is essential to our student’s success.  It is also fundamentally essential to our success is our student’s ability to work in cooperation with each other.

The following is an overview of the activities student’s will be developing in each grade level:

Pre-K, Kindergarten, and 1st grade will focus on spatial awareness, basic locomotor skills, developing hand-eye coordination, as well as throwing and catching skills.

2nd, 3rd, and 4th grades will work on basic locomotor skills and movements, hand-eye coordination, manipulatives, as well as striking with short and long handled implements.

Students in these grades will also improve their cardiovascular endurance by participating in various activities and game play scenarios.

5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grades will focus on improving individual cardiovascular endurance, strength, and flexibility by participating in individual and team activities.  Students will also participate in activities using short and long handled implements.

Rhythm and dance activities will also be incorporated in the program for all grade levels in various forms.
