Math

  • Count to 100 by tens and ones
  • Write numbers 0 to 20.
  • Identify whether the number of objects is greater than, less than or
    equal to another group of objects.
  • Solve addition and subtraction problems within 10.
  • For any number from 1 to 9, find the number that makes 10 when added
    to the given number.
  • Classify objects into different categories.
  • Identify one-dimensional and two-dimensional shapes.

Reading

  • Recognize and name all uppercase and lowercase letters.
  • Identify characters, setting, and major events in a story.
  • Recognize types of texts (e.g. poems, storybooks, informational texts)
  • Compare and contrast the adventures of characters in familiar stories.
  • Recognize and produce rhyming words.
  • Be able to pronounce the initial, middle, and final sound of a word and
    then blend them together.
  • Read common sight words such as of, is, in, are.
  • Read emergent-reader texts through using a variety of reading
    strategies to figure out words.

Religion

  • Understand that church is a special and sacred place.
  • Know that God is the Creator and made us to share His love with others.
  • Recognize Jesus as the son of God and Mary as the Mother of Jesus.
  •  Understand the significance of Advent, Christmas, Lent, and Easter.
  • Identify Baptism, the Eucharist, and Reconciliation as sacraments.
  • Use prayer to develop a relationship with God.
  •  Recognize familiar Gospel stories and understand that the Bible tells us
    stories of Jesus.
  • Understand his/her responsibility to care for God’s world.

Science

  • Understand the concept of motion and the many forces such as push, pull,
    wind, and gravity.
  • Name the five senses and how we can use them to enjoy God’s world.
  • Hypothesize why objects sink or float when put in water.

Social Studies

  • Name and describe the role of the people in our community (e.g.
    firefighter, architect, librarian).
  • Understand the significance of various holidays such as Thanksgiving,
    Martin Luther King Day, etc.
  • How we can be a helpful and responsible citizen for our community.

Writing

  • Use a combination of drawing, dictating, and writing to compose opinion
    pieces, narrative stories, and informational texts.
  • Print uppercase and lowercase letters.
  • Capitalize the first word in a sentence and put spaces between words.
  • Recognize, name and use punctuations.
  •  Spell simple words phonetically, drawing on knowledge of letter sounds.
