HSA Volunteer Schedule

AUGUST – DECEMBER:

  • Mums Annual Fundraiser – This is the first fundraiser of the school year. It occurs during the month of September. Volunteers will work with Broadway Gardens to help facilitate mum sales. Time commitment: 3-4 hours. (3 volunteers)
  • Halloween Trunk or Treat – This fundraiser is usually held the Sunday evening before Halloween. The event commences with a chili cook-off. Volunteers will decorate, set-up, serve food and clean up after the event. Time commitment: 2-4 hours. (6-8 volunteers)
  • Christmas Fair Committee – Our Christmas Fair is held the weekend after Thanksgiving. This is one of our main fundraisers for the school. Opportunities to help include: setting up, decorating, working a booth, baking and many other tasks over the course of the weekend. Time commitment varies from 2 hours or up to 20. (10-12 volunteers for committee, 20 volunteers for the weekend)
  • Lobster Lunch Committee – This lunch is held Friday and Saturday of the Christmas Fair. Help is needed setting up cafeteria, delivering lobster lunches, serving food and cleaning up after lunch. Time commitment: 2-4 hours. (6-8 volunteers)
  • Wreath Fundraiser – Help is needed during the Christmas Fair to sell wreaths, decorate and distribute wreaths to our cluster churches. Time commitment is approximately 2-4 hours over weekend of the Christmas Fair. (3-5 volunteers)

JANUARY – JUNE:

  • Catholic Schools Week – This special week is held at the end of January. It is time to celebrate our wonderful school! Volunteer opportunities include coordinating and planning teacher lunches, running games in the gym and supporting teachers in their classrooms. Time Commitment: 1-2 hours per day. (6-8 volunteers)
  • Spring Auction Committee – This is our marquee fundraiser that requires “all hands on deck”. Volunteer opportunities continue through March and culminates with the event. Volunteers are needed to organize auction items, coordinate with the venue, decorate, and work the evening of the auction. Time commitment can vary from attending monthly meetings to a few hours the day of the auction. (10-12 for committee, and 12-15 for setup, running auction, and cleanup)
  • Teacher Appreciation – Volunteers will coordinate activities, lunch and prayer service for our amazing teachers and staff. This celebration is held in early May. Time commitment: 2-4 hours. (6-8 volunteers)
  • Art Show – This great evening is held during the last week of school. Volunteers help with snacks/drinks during the event. Time commitment: 2 hours. (4-5 volunteers)
  • Field Day – This event is typically the first week of June. Volunteers are needed to help run games and activities, set-up lunch and help with clean-up. Time commitment: 3-4 hours. (15-20 volunteers)

THROUGHOUT THE YEAR:

  • Passive Fundraising – There are several easy opportunities for families to support our school without having to be in the building. Please see Passive Fundraising under the Support Holy Cross tab on our website for more details. Time commitment: 1-3 hours each month. (2 volunteers)
  • Baking – In non-pandemic conditions, there are several opportunities for bakers / non-bakers to make / provide treats!
  • The Christmas Fair, First Friday Breakfast, Teacher Appreciation Week and Bishop’s Visit are all events where bakers may contribute or non-bakers may donate dessert. (Multiple volunteers)
  • Room Parent- Each grade has a parent who helps coordinate with the classroom teacher. Responsibilities include relaying pertinent information and reminders to the parents of the students in the class. Time Commitment: 5-6 hours a month. (10-15 volunteers)
  • Field Trip Chaperone – As needed
  • Chairing a Fundraiser – This is a big commitment but great way to meet many in our school community. The chair organizes committee, sets up meetings and agenda and keeps everyone on task. Time commitment: 10-15 hours. (6-8 volunteers)
  • Coaching a Team – Volunteer opportunities include cross-country track in the fall and basketball in the winter. Time commitment: 2 hours per week during season.
  • Classroom Volunteer – As needed
