In the Lower School, the core subjects of English, Mathematics, Social Studies and Science are taught by the home room teacher for the individual grade level. In the Middle School, these core subjects are taught by individual, specialist teachers.
Along with the core subjects, students also study 'Specialist' subjects such as Art, Music, Physical Education and Computer Technology. These subjects are taught outside of the home room and in classrooms dedicated just to that subject. Middle School students also take part in a Student Enrichment subject, allowing them to take a course which is more about diversity and hands on activities rather than academic excellence.

For the Middle School, moving around the school from class to class and subject to subject is normal. For the Lower School students who are used to mainly being taught in their own home room, moving class for specials helps them become more familiar with their surroundings and also more comfortable with the issue of needing to move quickly from class to class which is so important in the Middle School and beyond.
