In a secure and safe learning environment, children are encouraged to take risks and become independent learners. Our Lower School is comprised of Kindergarten to Fifth Grade with small class sizes and a teacher and aide in each classroom.
Curriculum emphasizes the development of problem solving, critical thinking and basic skills in the core subjects of reading and composition, mathematics, social studies and science. Physical education, art and computer music classes, and science, Spanish instruction and frequent field trips enhance the basic academic program.
A wide variety of extracurricular activities provide every child with the opportunity to broaden their experience beyond the classroom. Most students take part athletic program and participate in a wide range of activities, including boys & girl scouts, student government, odyssey of the mind, community service, dramatic and musical productions.
In addition to providing a sound academic background in the core subjects, teachers strive, through their own attitude and example, to help each child’s understand that learning is a process in which active participation is the key to success. We seek to inspire children to become life long learners and arm them with the essential skills and habits of mind necessary to make learning both meaningful and fun.
